Why We're Here

Our Goal

Classic Co-op is all about celebrating the joy of playing retro co-op video games. After years of trying to find comprehensive lists of local co-op games for older consoles—and constantly coming up short—we decided to build the resource we always wished existed. Our mission is to create the most complete database of cooperative games across classic gaming systems.

If you’ve ever wondered which co-op games are available for a specific retro console, that’s exactly what we’re here for. This site is made by lifelong co-op fans, for anyone who still loves the magic of playing side-by-side with a friend.

What We Mean by "Co-op"

When we say "co-op," we mean games where you and a friend play together as allies—not opponents. Our focus is on local multiplayer, where both players share the same screen or console—what many know as "couch co-op." We won't be covering traditional sports titles or games where players take turns, unless they still feel like a team experience (think Donkey Kong Country or Nintendo World Cup).

We’ll also include system link games for handhelds and some linked console titles when they offer true cooperative gameplay.

While online multiplayer dominates today’s gaming world, nothing quite compares to sitting next to your friend, sharing laughs (and continues) in person. That’s why we’re putting the spotlight on older games—but we’ll feature modern couch co-op gems, too, in our Co-op Highlights section.

Your Input

This is an ongoing project, and we’d love your help. If you notice a co-op game missing from the site, please reach out—we’ll do our best to add it to the database. [Contact us here.]

What to Expect

Alongside our growing database, we’ll be featuring standout co-op games regularly—mostly retro, but with a few modern titles sprinkled in. Be sure to check back for updates, highlights, and more as we keep celebrating the best way to play: together.
